Text Me
Behind the song
“Text me” is something people say all the time. It's catchy, it's modern, and it hides a lot of feeling in two little words.
Like many of my songs, “Text Me” is about loneliness and rejection. It was inspired by the idea of someone so desperate to be with the person they want that they'll drop everything and make themselves available the moment a text comes in.
The other side of the song is the silence. When the texts stop, they're left waiting and staring at the phone, imagining the other person out there meeting and connecting with someone else.
Chasing Wind
Behind the song
The title comes from the Bible. In the book of Ecclesiastes, Solomon describes chasing the pleasures of this world as “chasing after the wind”: everything we desire is fleeting, because we're only here for a little while.
In the song, trying to love someone is chasing wind. It's futile, because nothing you do will ever be good enough or get you where you want to be.
One of my favorite lines is in the second verse: “Seeing you leave is like water up my nose / You know that I would swim and drown for you.” It's a dramatic, unexpected image, and everybody knows exactly what water up your nose feels like. The person leaving is that sting, and still, even after the pain, you'd swim and drown for them.
I also love the opening line, “Even if your love for me would grow as cold as January.” It made me really happy to finish the track in time to release it in January 2026.
